ROOT TOPS, WHITBY HARBOUR

2 MISTY ROOF TOPS – WHITBY
Camera: Canon EOS 5D
Lens: Canon EF 24 -105mm 1:4
Setting; AF, AV f16
Raw & jpeg setting
ISO 50
Manfrotto tripod
Cable Release
This photograph was taken at 8pm on June 18th 2007 during a Joe Cornish Whitby Workshop, two days before the summer solstice.
We had hoped for a good sunset but the atmospheric pressure was low and a cloak of mist had hugged the coast for several days, which provided an opportunity to experiment with challenging photographic conditions.
Whilst stopping to catch my breath halfway up the 99 steps leading to Whitby Abbey, I looked around hopelessly for something inspirational in the mist; and then I noticed this composition which appealed to me.
It was a breezy evening and as I needed to use a long exposure for a night shot had to stand very close to the camera to protect it from unwanted wind movement.
